David is the owner and operator of Darwin Sports, Inc. and the Core Athletics facility. His experience includes six years as a professional baseball player and 20 years as a youth baseball camp instructor.
The Detroit Tigers drafted him in 1996 where he progressed through the organization to play for the Triple-A Toledo Mudhens. He also played in the Cleveland Indians organization for the double-A Akron Aeros and the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
David played collegiate baseball at Duke University. As a four-year starter he was ACC All Conference in 1996, a team captain, and still holds several career and season pitching records. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at Duke, he completed a double major in economics and sociology and was listed on the ACC All Academic Team his senior year.
During his high school career at West Mecklenburg, David was honored as the Mecklenburg County Player of the year in 1992 and was an All-State team selection that same year. He was also named a member of the AAU All America team in 1991.
His focus is on developing programs for athletes to reach their maximum potential through incorporating proper hitting and pitching mechanics, strength training and mental conditioning.
Charles joined the Core staff as our Youth League Director to create practice plans and oversee development of young players. He is available for instruction sessions as he has a passion to teach and relates well with the players.
Charles played his college baseball at St. Andrews Presbyterian College where we was a 4 year starter at 3B and holds the school’s record for most career starts and games played. He earned his degree in Business Administration. He graduated from Jay M Robinson HS where was a 4 year varsity starter and All-Conference his senior year. He was the Team MVP batting .500 for the season.
Charles started with Core by coaching a Metro team. He has since coached several youth teams within our program as well as the Jay M Robinson JV coach and a local showcase team coach. His experience as various levels gives him a unique vision to help players journey through their playing careers
Kaylee Patrick is a graduate from the University of Georgia, where she obtained a bachelor of science degree in Dietetics. She played softball for Kennesaw State University and later transferred to the University of Georgia to finish out her career. Throughout her softball career she earned academic honors and 2 all-conference awards. Having played division I collegiate softball, she has extensive knowledge in all aspects of the game. Kaylee loves to share her passion and love for the game with younger girls who have similar dreams and aspirations.

Charles has spent the past three years coaching various levels of youth baseball on teams, in camps and in private lessons. This past year he served as the pitching coach with Upper Arlington High School. His team posted an ERA of 3.07 and won a district title.
Charles graduated with a degree in chemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University. He was a four year letter winner for the Battling Bishops on the mound, earning All-Conference honors in three seasons. Cooper was also named Newcomer of the Year as a Freshmen. He led his team in wins, ERA, or strikeouts every year. Cooper graduated from Upper Arlington in 2011 where he was a two time letter winner and captain.
With his experience of instructing youth of all ages, Charles can connect with players of all ages. He enjoys sharing his love for the sport with players while keeping the players focused on achieving their goals.

Joins the Core staff as a pitching instructor in his off season. Koerner went to Jay M. Robinson High School, then pitched at Clemson. He is now a pitcher in the Yankees farm system.
Brody Koerner was a two-time all-state as a prep star in Concord, N.C., who was a 17th-round draft pick in 2015 after pitching to a 6.98 ERA in three seasons of college ball at Clemson. His two-season pro numbers are spectacular, as he's 5-1 with a 1.57 ERA 26 games . Brody coaches and does private instruction at Core in his off-season.
AJ joins Core as a Program Director. A graduate from Western Carolina University's Sport Management program in 2016, AJ is in charge of lessons, class registration, and team information. AJ played baseball in high school at Jay M. Robinson and played in the Core Metro League during that time as well.
